Advanced Game of the Scene Course: Jan-Feb, 2026
The Advanced Game of the Scene improv course is inspired by east coast theaters (UCB, BIG, & WIT), facilitated by Michael Hartwell. For improvisers who already have a foundational knowledge of Upright Citizens Brigade-style Game of the Scene play, this course will offer a chance to level up GOTS skills and concepts. In addition to slightly faster pace, with more intensive side-coaching and notes around scene work, the Advanced GOTS course will shift its focus to more nuanced consideration of GOTS. Beyond base reality, two points of view, and game play, participants can expect to focus on different approaches for heightening and exploring, top of intelligence/close-to-self play, justifications, Game hacks, and more. As its name suggests, this is an advanced level course and participants should come with substantial improv experience generally (i.e., 3 or more courses and/or 1+ years of consistent practice and performance) and a familiarity with UCB/GOTS, specifically. If you have questions about enrollment, feel free to email michael.g.hartwell@gmail.com.
